As usual I have a to-do list as long as my arm. I got several things done over the weekend – more than I would have expected actually considering we had two “away” soccer games to attend which required about 5 hours each with travel time, warm up, and game time included. You’d think that ticking some items off my to-do list would make me happy and yes, it did.
But there I had some specific plans for today that are not working out so great so far and even though I am getting some other things done instead, the fact that I am getting delayed on my first and highest priority item is very frustrating.
What is so important? Glad you asked. My engine light came on a couple of weeks ago one dark and rainy night and I was right in that I guessed it had to do with my catalytic converter which had been dying a slow death for more than a year now. I wouldn’t bother having it fixed now but it’s starting to get really loud which is irritating and a little embarrassing. My neighbor, handy man extraordinaire said I could just buy one and take it to a shop and have them swap it out. He was half right – they can just swap it out but the quote they gave me was way more than I was expecting.
Now I’m trying to see if I can track down a cheaper part – which the shop said they would happily install for me – and puzzling out which part is the correct one is much harder than you might expect. It is beginning to seem as if there is some sort of mob conspiracy on catalytic converters to force know-nothing people like myself to cave in and just pay the repair shop price. I’m not quite ready to throw in the towel just yet. I’m making my neighbor an apple pie to thank him for replacing my shocks and struts last week and hoping that it will sweeten him up to helping further guide me through this latest car repair puzzle.
In the meantime, I’m going to hang some command hooks for my brooms and mops and make some jewelry.
