I still haven’t made much progress on the purple quilt and I finally figured out why.
Is it any wonder I can’t do my cutting and piecing when I have no place to work?
(On a side note, is it any wonder painting the walls in my sewing area is a high priority for me?)
There are too many ongoing projects for me to put everything away, away but I did clear a space and have gotten a few pieces cut. Even the triangle template I made seems to be the right size and proportion based on the test block I made.
I’ll need 215 blocks altogether, not including the border pieces and I’ll end up with a queen sized quilt. There will be more whole hexagon blocks than pieced ones – the pieced ones will be made from purples and contrasting colors and just be tossed in here and there and will be tied into the whole by a colorful pieced border made up of half-hexagons. The only other thing I need to figure out is how to put the quilt together – if I do the blocks in rows, I’ll have to deal with all the inset seams between the rows. Of course, by the nature of hexagons I’ll be dealing with inset seams anyway.
I can’t wait to see how it comes out.

Inset seams . . . (((shudder!))) You really like to challenge yourself, don’t you?

I guess I just need a couple more work tables!
