Today I’m thrilled because I not only found “the City” – where everyone told me I needed to go to buy a current sticker for my garden waste bin – but now I have the all-important sticker and can put it on the curb full of weeds and yard mess every week. I may have missed half a year on its use, but I fully intend to catch up. Mwhahahahahaha!
So, no pictures yet but I have been hard at work. There is more to do and neither sun, nor heat, nor accidental sunburns will keep me out of the yard. I’m a woman on a mission and as God is my witness, I will finish this week. Armed with my magically efficient hoe, I can’t lose. How did I live all these years without a hoe? (I suppose because I didn’t have a yard, LOL)
I transplanted approximately 100,000 orange lilies this weekend and by the time I was done digging them up and hauling them around I didn’t care if I ever saw a lily again. And yet there were still more. I always feel terrible wasting a perfectly good plant but enough was really enough already. As luck would have it, a friend stopped by and was more than happy to take a giant clump of them off my hand. Win win!
My strawberries will remain in their pots for now because the bed where I wish to put them is where the air conditioner is located and I wouldn’t want them to be trampled while the guys are working out there. They seem perfectly happy if not terribly productive.
Today I will plant some flowers. I got myself some coneflowers, black-eyed susans, and some tickseed (which is much prettier than the name would suggest!)
Also, will someone please tell me something good about earwigs? Because I’ve been seeing lots of them and they really gross me out.

There is NOTHING good about earwigs! Actually, I don’t even know if they are beneficial or detrimental . . . I just know I can’t stand the sight of them. Eeeuuuw!
by Mama Pea July 2nd, 2012 at 6:03 pmI think they actually break down decaying plant matter so as long as they are off doing their thing out of my sight I’m okay with the idea of them – I’ve seen a few too many of them up close and personal (and some in my house) to be happy about them right now!
