Of course, I am very much the hunter/gatherer type anyway. But, not all of us realize that just because it says organic, it is necessarily good. But at the end of the day, all you can do is your best to eat both ethically and well, given what is available to you. So she only eats meat that died happy--that is, game her family has hunted. She has family in Maine, so she gets a lot of moose, I think. We have been trying to eat less meat for precisely the reasons this book mentions. I haven't read the book. I'm afraid to, for fear I'll be burdened with guilt every time I go to the market. We have very limited options here for getting sustainable, environmentally friendly produce. When it takes hours of driving to get past jam-packed suburbia, you're not going to find an organic (government-approved or not) farm within a reasonable distance.
