LOL – a lesson I’ve already learned. That’s why we have one of the kettles that turns off automatically once it boils. I’ve also learned never to leave a pot on the gas elements. Charred pots aren’t a pretty sight!
Shelley – my tea pot was sitting on the gas flame so boiled all that much faster. The poor lid is even warped!
Chicken Mama – the whistle part of the tea kettle melted off during a previous incident! I do employ a kitchen timer for other jobs though – burned on rice is a HORRIBLE smell and not much fun to scrub off either!
I write books for fun so why is it so hard to write my own bio? I am an American currently living in Cairo, Egypt. Aside from writing, I'm a married mom of two under ten, a decent (if reluctant) cook, an encyclopedia of random scientific / medical facts, a wine lover (but not a snob!), and a Capricorn. I love to travel, spend time with good friends, and laugh at life's surprises. View of life - definitely half full.

by Shelley Munro April 8th, 2009 at 6:11 amYep, been there, done that!
Tom and I were halfway down the driveway last night when I said, “I forgot to turn off the potatoes!” We made it juuuuust in time.
by Chicken Mama April 8th, 2009 at 11:00 amP.S. A whistling pot also helps . . . . Since I don’t have one right now (broke the “whistler” itself), I set the timer when I put the water on!

by Jenyfer April 9th, 2009 at 4:49 amHeh. Here I thought I was the only one to kill not one, but several tea kettles… finally gave up and just nuke a mug of water. Sighhhhhh.
