Another Thursday Night

No date night this week because DH is out of town. No Chinese food either but I do have the TV all to myself, LOL.

It’s been quiet here. The kids have been at school in the mornings and then have had play dates in the afternoon. I admit that I’ve relished the solitude. I haven’t gone out to socialize. I haven’t even made any bread. Instead I’ve put my music on loud and sung along badly while doing the housework and quilting. What is it about music that lifts the spirit so? For me it’s rock that does the trick.

I’ve also been writing. It’s been a pretty good week actually. After struggling though the last bit – the turning point in the book – there’s only one chapter left to go. Of course it’s only the first draft and will require another read through and much editing and tweaking, but the story will be told. It’s always a bittersweet moment, getting to the end of the story and letting the characters you brought to life and gotten to know so well just drift off into the mists.

(I usually get over that feeling after I’ve gone through and re-read the story 16 more times during editing. By that point I’m ready to pack their luggage for them!)

I hope to finish up over the weekend. I have another story growing in my mind that I’d like to tell. I’ve already made a start on it – I think I have about 500 words done.
:)

Congrats on the old story and the new. I’m still slogging through Honeysuckle. Wait until you see what I’ve done to her now!
